Next weekend I’m going to start a new thing on the site, where every month or so I will dedicate a page to one of my favourite artists :) This is separate from my links page, as these will be dedicated pages which will serve multiple purposes, hopefully for both you and me! I’m beginning to gather quite a list of Artists whose work I really love, yet most of the time I find that I can’t explain, or understand, why I love their work so much. For a while now I’ve been wanting to just stop what I’m doing and dedicate some time to just studying their artwork, in the hopes of uncovering the reasons why I love them so much.

These new pages, devoted to my favourite artists, seems like the perfect way for me to do it as I can actually utilise my breaks and lunchtimes at work, to gather all the photos, study the art in detail, and write up my findings. This way, it won’t be eating into my drawing time at home :)

The studying is the main part, I will be just looking at each piece of art and jotting down whatever word/phrases spring to mind. Then I will look at this list of words near the end of each month and try to make sense of the list. The really cool thing will be in a few months time, when I’ve studied multiple artists and will be able to start comparing each artists list of keywords with each other. I’m curious to see if there will actually be common themes that crop up across multiple artists.

Hopefully you will enjoy viewing the artists I admire and maybe you’ll even become a fan of their artwork too :) It seems like it will be win win all round, the Artist themselves may get someone new seeing their work, you may get to see some new art you fall in love with for the rest of you life and I hopefully will start to understand why I love the art that I do.
